I think Twitter is great for libraries. Tweets can be quick and short on whats happening in the library and can linked back to the library website on news and events.

The Library of Congress Facebook page shares interesting news on what’s happening in the library. The post I chose was about NASA’s Dr. Pamela Conrad will discuss findings of the Mars Curiosity Rover project. Their Facebook page is for anyone who is interested in The Library of Congress. On their website they have phone numbers for all different questions, like General Information, Directions to the Library and Visitors' Information. That is why I think This Facebook page is authoritative.
